First drive new BMW 5 series

Submitted by Melle on January 25, 2010 – 10:02 pmOne Comment

The new BMW 5 series will probably have more fans than the outgoing E60 model. The real BMW fan was –even after 7 years- still not really convinced off the Chris Bangle design strategy. But hey, that is all behind us, and from this year on, you can order the new 5 series, also known as the F10 model. This new model designed by the Dutch Adrian van Hooydonk and his design team is more conservative, but still has a lot of the BMW dna.

After driven the new 7 series, and the 5GT the interior isn’t that much of a surprise. It is all familiar, and you feel immediately at home. Because the new 5 series is a couple of inches longer, the rear passengers have more space than in the previous E60 model.

After starting the new 535i engine the engine makes a quiet but beautiful sound.  This new engine even has cleaner emissions, but who really cares? It has still has 300hp!

We had only a very short drive in this new 5 series, but we can say that it all feels much more solid than the previous one. When taking a high speed bent, the steering wheel just feels rock solid. No other car in this class can match this behaviour.
