Rolls-Royce Suicidal ?

Rolls-Royce made the so-called ‘ suicide-doors’ legal again. Do you remember, doors opening up the wrong side? So they can catch wind and lampposts….?
The British mark Opel is grateful for this, because Opel mounted these ‘suicide’ doors on the Opel Meriva.
The prohibition on the contrary opening doors was introduced in 1961, after a number of accidents with such cars.
According to Opel, which used ‘suicide-doors’ already in the thirties, this could happen because of the use of the less quality hences in those days. Nowadays these components are much stronger en are designed with modern techniques.
Phantom Rolls-Royce introduced the Phantom with the ‘wrong’ doors, but had to go to a ‘single type approval’ for every car to get it license plates.
It was only in 2004, when European laws changed, the Phantom got the type approval. And this opened ‘doors’ for other marks as well of course.
