'Space Tower' becomes Spain's highest
The mayor of Madrid, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardn, was at the new 'Torre Espacio' yesterday for the raising the flag ceremony on what has become the highest building in Spain (236 metres), which was celebrated with a spectacular firework display. It is the first of the 'Cuatro Torres' skyscraper complex being built in Real Madrid's former Sports City (Ciudad Deportiva), and is expected to be completed on schedule before the summer. It will provide office space for between 2,500-3,000 workers, is 57 stories high, has 27 high-speed lifts and is 16 metres higher than Spain's current highest building, Benidorm's Gran Bali Hotel (210 metres including communication mast). There will be two leisure areas (on floors 18 and 33), known as Sky Lobby One and Sy Lobby Two, with rest areas, meeting rooms and restaurants all offering excellent views across the capital and surrounding countryside.

Juan G. Hoffmann, the son of a former German consul, is in prison
The Malaya investigation may have quietened down in the last few weeks but it was far from closed. Tuesday saw arrests number 81 and 82: two well known Marbella lawyers, Juan Germn Hoffmann and Jos Arteaga Pardo, whose offices underwent a 15 hour search resulting in the confiscation of a large quantity of paperwork and computer files. Both lawyers have been charged with money laundering and Hoffmann has been sent to prison without bail. Sources close to the investigation pointed out on Tuesday that the Tarodo-Hoffmann lawyers office dealt, among other things, with foreign investment, especially in the German market. It was revealed on Wednesday that Hoffmann had at least 80 companies in his name. Juan Germn Hoffmann is a significant figure among the German community on the Costa del Sol.
