Ferrari claims the Spider will run to 62 mph from a standstill in less than 3.5 seconds before romping on to a top speed in excess of 198 mph.

BMW has officially unveiled its new M5, the fifth generation of its popular performance sports saloon.

Sporting a newly-developed high-performance M-series engine, the M5 has been eagerly awaited since a pre-production model appeared earlier this year.

The high-revving 4.4-liter engine has “typical M car thrust,” says BMW, with a power rating of 412kW (552hp) from the twin-turbo V8 engine.

It will manage 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds and 0-200km/h in 13 seconds, with an electronically-limited top speed of 305km/h on the high end M Driver’s Package, using a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Despite the speed, the powerful, high revving saloon manages some respectable consumption figures — 9.9 liters/100km, some 30 percent less than the previous generation thanks to efficient technology including auto start-stop and brake energy regeneration.

The chassis has also been optimised for performance, with variables altered using two new M Drive buttons on the steering wheel, which provide easy access to presets for functions such as the M Servotronic (steering) responses, Drivelogic shift program, DSC (stability control) mode, Dynamic Damper Control and information in the head-up display.

Although car blog Jalopnik points out that the M5 packs slightly less power than the Cadillac CTS-V, the M5 has generally been well received, with a fairly positive reception from both Autocar and Autoblog.

The German automaker will be hoping the reaction from fans at the official launch at BMW’s M Festival (June 23-26) in Germany, will be just as good.

Morgan has decided to put the earlier’30s built Three Wheeler back in production. For the modern version Morgan stayed close to the original. Some 1-liter speed records set by 1930s Morgan 3′s still stand, so why would you change a winning team?

The engine is a V Twin engine, which comes from S&S with an output of 115 hp. Performance and CO2 are yet not known, but Morgan knows to report that the car  has type approval for Europe and America.

The tax free price will be around 30.000 euros.

Maserati will introduce its latest performance model, the GranCabrio Sport, next week at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show.

The 4.7-liter V8 has been retuned to deliver 444 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. The powerplant works with a ZF six-speed automatic transmission that uses a MC Auto Shift software based on the one features on the Quattroporte Sport GT S.

A new top speed of 285km/h (177 mph) can be reached, yet combined cycle fuel consumption has been cut by six percent – down from 15.4 to 14.5 litres/100km.

The list of other tech modifications includes a revised Skyhook active suspension, as well as the introduction of grooved and drilled dual-cast brake discs. The vehicle can be recognized by its black front grille that uses a Trident with red accents, black-style headlights with white sidemarks, new front corner splitters and sideskirts. The car also comes with a new body color called Rosso Trionfale (Triumphant Red) inspired by the red Italian national colours used on 1950s racing Maseratis.

The Sport hits all of Maserati’s existing markets this summer, and will sit alongside the GranTurismo S and the Quattroporte Sport GT S in Maserati’s family of enhanced performance models.

Hard to tell, but this is a brand new Audi model A6 (2011).

The A6 comes in the spring of 2011 with the German base price of 38,500 euros. From the previous model were 945.000 units sold.

With the launch two petrol and three diesel engines with an output of 177 hp to 300 hp will be available, the hybrid version will follow shortly after. The fuel consumption is, according to the manufacturer has dropped 19 percent compared to the previous model.

My opinion: Boring, it looks exactly like a scaled up A4 with an A7 dashboard.

The car was shown a few days back  at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Porsche has already confirmed that the car goes into production, which is nice, because after an endless series of 911-variants and trips to SUVs and four-door cars, real Porsche lovers just want a sportscar!

Despite the hybrid drive and matching green sales pitch the car has enough horsepower. The gasoline-powered V8 delivers 500 hp and the three electric motors would add another 217 hp to it. This can beat a Prius with a top speed of 315 km / h  with according to official figures less CO2 from the exhausts.

Strikingly, the changes from the standard 458 are limited. The capacity of the V8 is ‘just’ 570 horsepower, just like the street car. However, the gearbox is lighter and has shorter gear ratios for better acceleration. The Challenge is 30 mm closer to the tarmac than the street version.
Not only the gearbox is lighter, the body weighs less as well. This through the use of carbon fibre for the doors.

The 19-inch wheels are wrapped in special Pirrelli tyres and behind them are grinning ceramic brake discs from Brembo. The F1-Trac system has settings for a dry and a wet track. Off-course all devices can be switched off.

The 458 Challenge set a lap time of 1:16.5 set at Fiorano circuit. That is a whopping two seconds faster than its predecessor, the F430 Challenge.

Ferrari will use the car in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli. In the championship, the rookie is racing against its predecessor. Next year Ferrari  starts a racing series in Asia with these new cars.

German tuning firm Kicherer has unveiled their styling and performance package for the Mercedes SLS AMG. Known as the Black Edition, the Kicherer modified SLS AMG gets a matte black exterior, a front spoiler lip, a restyled rear diffuser and 20-inch RS-1 wheels.

Other modifications include an adjustable sports suspension kit, matte black exterior accents, and off-course a Kicherer badge on the hood.

It is not only show, Kicherer is also offering some power upgrades with eg. a revised ECU and a stainless steel sport exhaust system. Thanks to these modifications, the 6.3-liter (6208cc) V8 produces 620 hp  instead of the standard 563 hp.
