Lexus has gone out and built a Landaulet of its own based on its LS 600h flagship sedan and designed the thing specifically for the wedding of Prince Albert II of Monaco.

In case you were wondering, a Landaulet is a design that was made popular in the early part of the last century and is basically a regular sedan with a fabric roof-center that can be folded away. In this case, the luxury limo is fitted with a one-piece transparent polycarbonate roof.

As we mentioned, it will serve as the official royal car for the wedding of the Prince and Carlene Wittstock on July 2. You may recall that Lexus has signed on as the official car brand of the green-loving Prince.

The conversion of the Lexus was undertaken by the Belgian coachbuilder Carat Duchatelet, working closely with Lexus engineers based in Brussels. The project took more than 2,000 hours to complete, which I think is a waste of time.

On the wedding day the car will operate in its fully electric mode, with zero tailpipe emissions. After the celebrations the car will remain in the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars announced today that continuing strong customer demand for all models has resulted in record production at the company’s manufacturing plant in Goodwood, West Sussex, England.

The company is currently building 15 cars a day, including Phantom and Ghost models, with over 300 cars built in June – both record numbers since the company launched in January 2003. All models are sold out until at least September, with Phantom saloons sold out until October.

Sales in June increased more than fourfold worldwide and in the first half of the year were up by almost 200%, compared with the same periods in 2009. Substantial growth was seen in all regions, with a particularly strong performance in the APAC region, especially China.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said, “This is an excellent interim result and we are well on our way to meeting our target of at least doubling our 2009 sales result. At the same time, both Phantom and Ghost continue to be the most exclusive super luxury cars in the world.” He continued, “I am also delighted with the progress in one of my first tasks as CEO – the stabilisation of the production process for our new model series, Ghost – and this is reflected in the smooth delivery of cars to our dealers and our customers around the world.”

Jörg Bause, Director of Production, joined the company at the end of May 2010. He said, “Having completed my first full month with the company during a period of record production, I have been deeply impressed with the team here at Goodwood. Everyone has risen to the challenge of meeting unprecedented customer demand, whilst at the same time ensuring the very highest standard of quality which is the hallmark of all Rolls-Royce motor cars.”

Sources at the British Autocar said that the the car probably will appear in 2012. That is two years earlier than previously thought. The same sources say that the new supercar will be revolutionary in both styling and performance. Eighteen months is very short time to fully develop such a model, so we wouldn’t be surprised if it would take a year longer.

The Ferrari 599 GTO, the company’s fastest ever road-going car and is reported to have already sold out.

The 12-cylinder Berlinetta, made its first public outing at the Ducal Palace military academy in nearby Modena, Italy. There it was unveiled to a crowd of only 500 top-customers, including chairman Luca di Montezemolo and CEO Amedeo Felisa.

The GTO is powered by a 661bhp six-litre V12 with 457lb ft of torque, propelling it to 60mph from standing in just 3.4secs and on to a top speed of 208mph. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox which can shift in 60 milliseconds. But according to a press release that accompanied the exclusive event for the existing Ferrari customers, the full run is already sold out !

LONDON – Sweden found a smart way to guarantee the 400 million loan that the deal between Saab Spyker made possible: the country insisted on the “maintenance division” as a security.

The Swedish taxpayers may perhaps be very pleased with the rescue of the country’s proud car maker, but there are less happy people as well, with these high-risk loans.
400 million euros is 0.2 percent of the Swedish national product.

Sweden in the negotiations insisted that the highly lucrative ‘spare parts’ Saab division would serve as security for the loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

According to our informant, this division is “by far the most profitable division of Saab.”

The 23rd of February 2010 was a historic day for Saab Automobile. It was the day that ownership of the company transferred from GM to Spyker Cars. The transaction secures the deal for Saab Automobile and signals the start of a new era.

But a lot of speculations where going on…
General Motors(GM) did not want that the Russian billionaire, Vladimir Antonov would be shareholder in the new Saab Spyker.
And GM and the Swedish government refuse to give answer on the question, if they would have required that Vladimir Antonov, would have to pull back as a shareholder.

Victor Muller informed us, he buys out all the shares of Vladimir’s Antonov. But… as we know, he doesn’t have any money !
It looks like it however, that Antonov remains as an investor in the company.

Muller explains in the Swedish media that he wants to keep his privat-financers unknown.
At the same time at the announcing of the takeover of Saab, Vladimir Antonov tells Reuters, Bloomberg and the Swedish media, that, he is financing €100 million to Tenaci Capital. And yes, we told you before Tenaci Capital is the company of Victor Muller…

So apparently, Antonov is financing Saab, through Victor Muller’s backdoor…
What a surprise !

Being rich can be difficult.
For all Multimilardairs, techmiljardairs and oil sheiks there is now a handy service.
With the new tool of Superyachts.com, finally they can keep an eye on each other.
In the fight for the largest, most expensive and most extravagant ocean cruiser, Superyachts.com shows their ranking in the top 100 of
super yachts.
It is no surprise that Mr. Roman Abramovich has the biggest one. With his 162.5 meters is the ‘Eclipse’ the biggest and most expensive floating toy.
On nr.4 we find the Prince Abdulaziz, which 147 meters of wealth, was lying in Marbella most of last year.
Earlier we told you already, that the race is still on …The Belgian-based Emocean Yacht Design has unveiled the sketch of a 200 meter gigayacht.
Have a look at the website, and pick your cherry!

Size does matter…!

A little desert emirate normally gets his excessive wealth from oil fields. Dubai tried to do it differently by building property that no one really wanted. Ok, they had to, because it seemed they didn’t had any oil.

Seemed indeed, Thursday Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the discovery of a new oil field. It remains to examine how big the field is and when they can start drilling. But ok, it looks promising. The discovery “will contribute to enhancing the economic capabilities of the nation and increase its oil production, and therefore have a wide-ranging positive effect.”

They can use a wide-range positive in Dubai. Although the emirate officially solved their cash flow problems, they’re still faced with an estimated debt of $ 150 billion.
